ACK! Look at the time! Been playing around with web stuff and need to head to Habitat, like, NOW!!!

Good to see Gerry and Shondra from Clinton Parks and Rec... we're really hoping that this year will be the year when John Anthony DOESN'T bring up the rear! Look for the info on the calendar... might be tomorrow with the way my day is going, though!

Still kinda creeped out about the bird that took it's own life with my glass door this morning. I'm going to be driving very carefully and reading every document closely before I sign it. Poor guy. On a positive note, from the look of the bird as I took it into a wooded area, it was instant. Hopefully, pain free.

Ok, I GOT to run... tomorrow we'll be giving more stuff away and ... stuff! LOL! K BYE!!!

WHOO HOO! Back to the groove! But last week at the Batson Hospital was GREAT, thanks to EVERYONE. Definitely a team effort.

Congrats to our board op/behind the scenes girl, Katy, who tied the knot with her man Brad over the weekend. "Wuuuuuv... twoo wuuuv... wiuh fowwow you forevahhhh and evahhh..."

Congrats to my cat Monkey, who survived 24 hours enclosed in the downstairs bedroom after he snuck in while I was looking for my angel wings. I didn't see him come in, shut the door behind me when I walked out... heard him crying when I got home from Radiothon in the evening. Was he slightly traumatized? You bet. Is he ok now? Seems to be. ME? Not so much.

Congrats to Sandra Bullock for both her Razzie AND her Oscar. She made everyone glad they voted for her, and John is over the moon that one of his fave movies ever got an Oscar. Sorry, but I forgot about the Oscars last night... tv just isn't really on my mind much lately, especially when all the stuff I watch is DVRed.

I'm going to finish updating the website, and then I have some billboards to finish up for Habitat... actually, I have quite a bit to do there since I missed so many days last week.  I will definitely NOT be board on this bright sunny Monday!

Have a great day, be back in the morning... k bye!!!

March 2nd, 2010

It's Read Across America Day, and I kinda missed the boat. I will definitely try to do some reading next week. Mom used to read to us all the time when we were little, and I had teachers that did it on Fridays, as well. It never occurred to me that people DON'T read to their kids. I can't believe I still possess some naivete! Who knew?

JW brought breakfast from Olivia's Food Emporium (BLESS HIM!), which gave me more than enough energy to watch all the heavy lifting that the guys will be doing down at the Batson lobby when I get off the air here shortly.

And Crystal Skelton gave me a holler about "Alice in Wonderland" performances happening this weekend at Thalia Mara Hall with the MS Metropolitan Ballet. Their website for info and show times is
www.msmetroballet.com, if you're looking for a neat way to culture up your kids. Or just make 'em hush for a bit.

Next time I talk to you, I will be at Radiothon! Gotta get lots of sleep tonight and get ready to meet another generation of munchkins that will benefit from all the adults around them.

Be back in the morning! K bye!

March 1st, 2010

Ahhhhhhhhh, everybody's back today! My schedule will be normal for... a day! We start doing the heavy lifting for Radiothon tomorrow right after the morning show, and then it's 3 days at the hospital!

Wish the weekend had been just a tad bit longer... especially after the heatbreak of losing the gold to Canada. Poor Ryan Miller. Glad he got MVP for the tournament though. He worked so hard! (And don't worry, Mr. Killjoy - John Anthony - could never dampen my love of the game. How he can be such a football fan and not appreciate my love of hockey is beyond me.)

Headed off to Habitat to take care of some things on the web before I'm MIA there for the rest of the week. My taunting of Monday this morning has not caused TOO much grief.

Yet. It's still early! Here's to the start of a great week! And maybe even a little more snow???!! (What up with THAT??!!) K bye!!

February 26th, 2010

One happy thing about it being the end of February is that I will no longer have to pay close attention to how I spell F-E-B-R-U-A-R-Y. Who on earth came up with the name of this month and is it possible to pinch them in some way?!

This is gonna be quick, because I have to go talk to kindergartners at North West Rankin Elementary for career day and I have NO idea what to talk about. I don't want to be late in disappointing the kiddies. (It's hard not visualizing Ahnold right now, I've seen Kindergarten Cop waaaay too many times!)

THANKS, MARSHALL RAMSEY! Always a blast having him in the studio. PLUS, he has so much experience at the public speaking thingie that he tried to give me some pointers. I'll try to remember them as I stand up there shaking in my boots!

Have a great weekend! It's a working weekend for me! K bye!!!

February something-or-other

Sorry I've been MIA, folks, this week has truly been a test of my superhero capabilities. Bright side: I'm passing this test! Ok, barely. Next time, however, I would really prefer a multiple choice format. Just sayin...

Nice to talk to Nan O'Brien this morning, as well as the ladies who called in looking for a little guidance. Nan had to laugh at me when she asked how I am doing and I told her, "I had to pull myself out and look at my week like I'm watching a character in a tv show. Pretty funny when it happens to somebody else!" I need to remember how to do this when the next set of challenges pops up. Very helpful coping mechanism.

Tomorrow morning is going to be fun, I managed to snag Marshall Ramsey of the Clarion Ledger for a bit in the morning. He never fails to make me laugh, and on a Friday, who could ask for more?

Wait... Upon further thought, I have a list of more to ask for. Be back in the morning... K BYE!!!

February 22nd, 2010

What a GAME last night! And was my man Ryan Miller awesome or WHAT??? TEAM USA ROCKS!!! Really made my Sunday, that's for sure.

Although the cat's away (John Anthony is on vacation this week), Todd and I have quite a bit going on as we gear up for next week's MS Miracles 9th Annual Radiothon with the Blair E Batson Hospital for Children. We got Miracle Workers collecting change all over town (you can still sign up, by the way! Just go to the home page!)... Patty Peck Honda is helping us out with donations on all test drives...

Plus we still got Girl Scouts everywhere... Olympics going on... the competition on American Idol is REALLY kicking off this week...

I'm also pretty sure that I'm missing something very important. Hopefully I can remember what it is before it's too late. Or before it wakes me up at 1 am. I hate it when that happens.

OOo it's going to bother me all day, I can tell! Have a great Monday... John Clark Packer from the Children's Hospital will be by in the morning to talk about Free Pancake Day at IHOPs all over the nation tomorrow! Mmmmmmmm pancakes to help the kids! Nice! K bye!!

February 19th, 2010

WE MADE IT TO THE WEEKEND!!! WHOO HOOO!! And we got some seriously nice weather to celebrate in, too... I am currently waiting to hear back from the second job at Habitat to see if I can play hookie today and do some pre-emptive Spring Cleaning... not only the house, but the car, the critters, and I could REALLY use a hair cut!!!

Plus, it's pay day! Bank account is happy too!

Tomorrow night is the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Wild Pursuit for the Cure at the Country Club of Jackson... annual event that's always a lot of fun... AND keep an eye out for the Girls Scouts and their yummy wares starting this weekend at the local grocery stores and Wal-Marts! $3.25 a box, great organization!

I'm not-so-patiently waiting for 1:00, when I can bail out of here... Is it a sushi day? YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT! Have a great weekend!! :-)

February 18th, 2010

What a WEEK I'm having! With Todd out, and the Uncle Kracker show on Tuesday, and getting ready for Radiothon in a week or two... I have a dental cleaning re-re-rescheduled for today and although all I really want to do is go home and NAP, I really need to get it taken care of. I spent far too much cash on these choppers to let it slide because I'm kinda tired. Maybe I can get them to numb me up and I will just nap in the chair...

Ooooooo just found out about IHOP's Pancake Day next Tuesday! LOVE this fundraiser! Free stack of pancakes, all they ask is that you make a donation to the Blair E Batson. I wonder if I can get John to run the board for me while I go out to breakfast...

Starting to make plans for the weekend... I keep getting dragged back to the idea of Spring Cleaning. Maybe if I open up the windows and scrub and freshen, Mother Nature will get the hint and keep our temps in the stable mid-60's. Worth a shot, right?

Have a fabulous day! K bye!

February 16th, 2010

Happy Mardi Gras, everybody!

We're getting ready for Uncle Kracker tonight, and I still have to stop by Habitat and knock a few things out of the way, so I can't stay...

Thanks to Cyndi Tullos and Southgroup, Melanie Schade from FOCH, and JW from Olivia's Food Emporium for all stopping by this morning! The info for the 5K happening on Saturday is on the calendar now, as is the link to Olivia's.

Have I mentioned lately that I LOOOVE that calendar?! :-)  Have a great day!!!

February 15th, 2010

Gonna be a quick update, lots of stuff going on behind the scenes as I 1) fill in for Todd, 2) get ready for Uncle Kracker tomorrow night, and 3) have a little girl named Madison in here to talk about her experiences at Blair E Batson Hospital for Children, and she is a FIREBALL! You might remember her stealing scenes from WJTV 12's Linda Allen and Byron Brown during last year's Miracle Home Celebration!

But I did want to put up the info for Girl Scout Cookie Sales this year! the CEO of the Greater Mississippi Council, Karen Livingston-Wilson, dropped by this morning to give us the low down... if you want your favorite Tag-A-Longs, Do-Si-Does, Thin Mints or Samoas this year, as well as the new flavor, Thank You Berry Munch, and you don't see a GS Troop out and about in the next few days, here's what you do:

Call the Council at 601-366-0607 or go online at
http://www.gscmm.org. They will locate the troop nearest you so you can order your own supply. And I highly recommend it, because they never last long!

Have a GREAT Monday! K bye!!!

You have reached EJ's Blog.

EJ is not in at the moment, as there is almost 6" of snow on the ground
and some hills that need to be tackled.
After that, you might find her at the MEA.
You may leave a message at ej@mix987.com.

Thank you, and have a nice day!

Got to see the Madison Airport up close and personal-like when I went to drop off Krispy Kreme to Mary Cornelius out at the Madison Air Center (also got to say "mornin!" to a few guys at the lodge as I wandered around the compound a little on the lost side). Makes me want to get on a plane REAL BAD.

I'm hearing all this talk about snow, but it's hard to get worked up about it when they (the local meteorologists) have been wrong about it so often. I wish it would, to a certain extent, because I've yet to make a REALLY good snowball in a very long time, but I'm also kinda done with the cold and ready for Spring.

And I must say that I'm -so far- very pleased with Ellen Degenerous on American Idol. She was funny to both the contestants AND the judges, and she IS an entertainer, so her comments weren't really off the mark. I thought the kids they let through last night were good choices, and wonder if it's going to be just as productive tonight. We'll see.

I'm in a food quandary at the moment... I'm hungry, but I don't want my frozen dinner, but I don't want fast food, and I don't have the time or budget for a nice sit down restaurant, either. I keep thinking, "You know, it's the 21st Century... shouldn't we have a Meal-In-A-Pill by now?" Where is Willy Wonka and his 3 course dinner in a piece of gum when you need him?

Enjoy your Wednesday... tomorrow we'll talk more Idol and also find out what's happening tomorrow night with the new Mississippi Children's Museum! K bye!!

GOOD GRACIOUS! I really wish I would've worn my long undergear today... walk out to the car and get bit by the wind. On the bright side, my frozen dinner was still frozen. My heart goes out to the folks in DC. I heard some are trying to get out of town to relatives before the next round hits and they can't. (Hate to see one of THEIR grocery stores right now!!)

Got a couple of people on the guest list for the Uncle Kracker show next week, Todd's going to do some more today. Felt bad for the poor guy who called in and wanted to know where he could by tickets. It's a limited-type show, and you gotta listen for the sounder to call in and get some. Sorry, dude.

Debating whether I want to attempt a Wal-Mart trip today. Sometimes I'm brave, other times... not so much. Luckily I can think about it some more while I'm at Habitat.

Have a good day, be back in the morning! K bye!!
