“Journey to the North Pole” at Mississippi Children’s Museum
Daily November 26, 2019-January 5, 2020
Drawing inspiration from lessons in navigation and geography along with traditional holiday literature, Journey to the North Pole is set to transform the Gertrude C. Ford Exhibition Hall into a magical winter village of twinkling lights and train cars.Only a few feet from the entrance into the exhibit will also be a 45-foot slide down the center staircase of the museum called the Snowflake Slide! 18th Annual Turkey Day 8K at Fleet Feet Ridgeland

The Annual Turkey Day 8K has become a Thanksgiving tradition to runners near and far. What a great day to show off the beauty of our state to those out of town. The Turkey Day 8K is a great way to kick off Thanksgiving Day by having fun with loved ones, enjoying a little friendly competition, and burning a few calories to make room for all the grub you can gobble down later on! Growing in numbers every year, this is a great event that brings our community together and we are grateful to start our Thanksgiving day off with you!
Richardson Christmas Light Show
November 29 – December 27
Experience this family oriented drive-by Christmas display located in Madison, Mississippi. Free of charge. Hours and traffic route can be found here. Each year the display has continued to grow as new items are added.  The lights are synchronized to music with the help of a computer program called Light-O-Rama and the music is broadcasted by radio on the station 99.9 FM. Live appearances by Santa, Rudolph, and Frosty the Snowman are very common during the show. We look forward to seeing you this Christmas season.

From parades to old-fashioned carousel rides, the annual festival is like something straight from a Hallmark movie as more than 200,000 twinkling white lights will sparkle and light up the city’s Historic Courthouse Square. Enjoy the magic and nostalgia of the holidays, along with thousands of visitors, to Canton.

Homestead for the Holidays at MS Ag Museum
Thursday & Friday, December 12 & 13 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm 
Enjoy a sampler breakfast for supper, story time with Mrs. Claus and get your picture made with Santa and Rudolph! Take a stroll through Small Town and see the demonstrators, visit the Fortenberry-Parkman Farmstead and experience Christmas during the late 1800s. Carousel and train rides will be available as well as hands on historic crafts, and live music throughout the grounds. Make sure to write a letter to Santa on one of our limited edition postcards, printed in the Small Town Print Shop. Stop by the General Store for an old fashion glass bottle drink and browse the wares and unique Mississippi made products that make great gifts and stocking-stuffers! Richland Christmas Parade
